CARPENTER/BENCH JOINER – WORKSHOP TEACHING – SWANSEA
We are currently seeking an experienced Bench Joiner with a passion for teaching to work with our special needs students converting old fire doors into high end, bespoke furniture. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a rewarding, supportive environment, where they will help to develop the skills and abilities of our students, while also practicing their craft.
Key Responsibilities:
Teach basic woodworking and joinery skills to special needs students alongside another experienced joiner.
Plan and deliver engaging and innovative lessons that cater to the individual needs of students
Create a safe and supportive learning environment for students
Assess and monitor student progress, and provide feedback to students
Maintain a clean and organized workshop, and ensure that all tools and equipment are properly maintained and stored
Work collaboratively with other staff members to ensure that students receive the best possible education and support
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Bench Joiner or similar role with high end, bespoke furniture
Experience in a teaching role is preferable
A teaching qualification is desirable, but not essential
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
A patient and supportive approach to teaching
A passion for working with special needs students and helping them to achieve their full potential
